World Haemophilia Day - April 17

World Hemophilia Day is an international awareness day for hemophilia and other bleeding disorders. It is held annually on April 17, date of the birthday of Frank Schnabel, founder of the World Federation of Hemophilia.

Hemophilia is a mostly inherited genetic disorder that impairs the body's ability to make blood clots, a process needed to stop bleeding. This results in people bleeding longer after an injury, easy bruising, and an increased risk of bleeding inside joints or the brain. Bleeding into a joint can result in permanent damage while bleeding in the brain can result in long term headaches, seizures, or a decreased level of consciousness.

There are two types of hemophilia, both with the same symptoms:
Haemophilia A - factor VIII (8) deficiency
Haemophilia B - factor IX (9) deficiency

Common symptoms:
  • Bruising easily
  • More painful swelling and bruising and bleeding for longer after an injury than you would expect •
  • Prolonged bleeding after medical or dental procedures or surgery
  • Internal bleeding into muscles, joints, and organs

How to overcome Aging?

A new promising drug has been developed and proven to increase in muscle size, strength and metabolic state by the researchers from Texas University Medical Branch.
Human (also same in animals) body loses the ability to repair and rebuild degenerating skeletal muscles with aging and it starts from around 35 years resulting in decrease in the muscle mass, strength and functioning. It will increase the inactive living and dependency in elders. A protein in the muscle cells in the human body is responsible for the dysfunction the muscle cells in elders. They administrated the drug in smaller molecules to the injured mice to affect this muscle protein and to limit its function which decreases the muscle strength. This experiment and observation was carried out on mice with muscle injury and which was treated with a placebo at the initial stage and with the newly developed drug later to get the possible positive results towards increasing in the muscle strength.
Study on Human anatomy and Physiology (body parts functioning) helps for creating solutions on disorders and when it comes to diseases clinical studies through epidemiology and symptoms plays a vital role. All these studies are inter-related with Pharmacological studies of diseases and disorders while administered with pharmaceutical aid, i.e., the API or the drug molecule.
